Our program offers a number of advantages. Here are some of the more salient ones:
See our Why Us? page for more.
The amount of outgoing traffic your website receives is strongly correlated with the amount you bring in. For details, see the question below.
The link generator draws possible candidates from a database and ranks them based on three factors:
Some websites are disqualified before they are ranked. If a request to the link generator requires a media type that a website isn't set up to display, then the website isn't considered. Self-referential links are also disqualified in this way.
Through the control panel, you can configure different areas of your website as if they were separate websites — just set the base URLs to different locations. The Affiliate Exchange system will treat them as distinct websites even if the hostname is the same, so you can configure them with different categories and the like.
As is the case with other advertising agencies, our system does its best to guard against this. We log agent IP data for each clickthrough, and ignore redundant traffic. Additionally, we routinely skim the logs ourselves and watch for artificial-looking clickthroughs. If you notice anything suspicous, like a multitude of clickthroughs coming from very similar IPs, please let us know.
In general, we believe that verifying site ownership is unnecessary. If two or more users assert ownership over the same website, the system will act as if there were two (or more) separate websites. The true owner would be able to boost his site's points without affecting the pretend versions, because the embedded URLs tell the system which account — as well as which website — incoming traffic corresponds to.
It would be possible for the fake owner to post links on his own website and thus score points for his version of the website. Generally, however, this would only help the real owner by boosting his traffic. The only exception would be if the traffic generated by the pretend owner was unwanted, which is a rare scenario.
If these issues do cause you trouble somehow, feel free to let us know and we'll see what we can do.
In some ways, yes. You are free to change the embedded frame's display properties like width, height, and bordering if you wish to do so. If you don't want to use HTML frames, you can also use server-side programming to load the links from the link generator.
However, there are some limitations. Foremostly, linking directly to affiliates (i.e. placing links like <www.AffiliateExchange.org/r/../../> in your pages) is prohibited; your code must call the link generator so that the system can balance clickthroughs properly. See the policy page for details.
Advertisements that are excessively large or attention-grabbing tend to be distracting and may hinder the repute of some affiliate sites. For this reason we set spacial limits on what text can be displayed.
That said, the constraints are not set in stone. If you feel they should changed one way or another, get in touch and we'd be happy to discuss it.
Currently, clickthroughs are displayed if they are within the last 50 clicks and are no older than 30 days. If you want to see older records you can send a request, but there are no guarantees — we may have to prune old database records eventually.
Yes, but it is generally not advisable. This may cause a link to appear multiple times on your page.
